On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari attended an event honoring former President Goodluck Jonathan and 43 other prominent Nigerians.
The Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service was established to recognize distinguished public service to Nigeria, whether through contributions to individuals, states, or local communities, or to the public through excellence in leadership, service, or humanitarianism.
The ceremony took place in the Presidential Villa's Conference Room in Abuja.
The awards will also recognize 16 state governors, including Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila; and service chiefs.
The award was also given to sixteen state governors. Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Bala Mohammed are among them (Bauchi).

To be eligible, the recipient must be a living Public Official or a private citizen who consistently excels in a specific sphere of influence, be of good character, and be at the forefront of service and innovation.
